With its fifth season just around the corner, Yellowstone has become a sensation. Not only has the show done well itself, but it has already had a successful prequel series with more to come.

This article will take a look at the main Yellowstone cast and where you’ve seen them before. The series has an incredible cast, with many actors you might recognize from other movies and TV shows.

1. Kevin Costner as John Dutton

Kevin Costner is an American actor, film director, and producer who plays the formidable John Dutton in Yellowstone. He was born on January 18, 1955, in Lynwood, California.

Costner is an icon in Hollywood, as he has won two Academy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. He has starred in numerous movies and TV shows, with his career kicking off with the films Untouchables (1987) and No Way Out (1987).

Some of Costner’s other notable roles include Field of Dreams (1989), Dances with Wolves (1990), Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991), The Bodyguard (1992), Wyatt Earp (1994), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), and Hidden Figures (2016).

Dances with Wolves is one of his most notable movies, as he starred in, directed, and produced the film for which he won two Academy Awards.

Kelly Reilly is an English actress who plays the iconic Beth Dutton. She was born on July 18, 1977, in Chessington, London.

Reilly has not only starred in TV shows and films, but also on Broadway as well. She has won the Empire Award for Best Newcomer, London Film Critics’ Circle for British Newcomer of the Year, and National Board of Review Award for Best Cast for her role in Mrs Henderson Presents (2005).

Reilly’s most notable roles include Pride & Prejudice (2005), Sherlock Holmes (2009), Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011), Flight (2012), and True Detective (2015). She has also starred in the Broadway play Old Times (2015).

3. Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton

Luke Grimes is an American actor and singer who stars as Kayce Dutton. He was born on January 21, 1984, in Dayton, Ohio.

Grimes studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts before starting his acting career. Some of his most notable roles include True Blood (2013), American Sniper (2014), Fifty Shades of Gray (2015), The Magnificent Seven (2016), Fifty Shades Darker (2017), and Fifty Shades Free (2018).

Grimes even auditioned for the role of vampire Edward Cullen in Twilight. Though he didn’t get the role, he did go on to play a vampire in True Blood.

Wesley Bentley is an American actor who plays the flawed Jamie Dutton. He was born on September 4, 1978, in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Bentley got his big break in acting with his role in American Beauty (1999). He went on to win Best Male Breakthrough Performance, Most Promising Actor, and Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for his role as Ricky Fitts in the film.

Other notable roles Bentley has starred in include Ghost Rider (2007), Gone (2012), The Hunger Games (2012), Interstellar (2014), and Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018). Bently has also starred in multiple seasons of American Horror Story (2014-2016).

5. Cole Hauser as Rip Wheeler

Cole Hauser is an American actor and producer who plays the lovable Rip Wheeler. He was born on March 22, 1975, in Santa Barbara, California.

Hauser comes from a family of Hollywood stars. His mom, dad, and both his grandfathers were involved in the film industry. In addition, his great-grandfather Harry Warner was a founding partner of Warner Bros.

Hauser’s most notable films include Dazed and Confused (1993), Good Will Hunting (1997), 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003), and A Good Day to Die Hard (2013). He has also starred in ER (2004)and The Lizzie Borden Chronicles (2015). Hauser won the Breakthrough Performance – Male at the 2003 Young Hollywood Awards.

Birmingham is an award-winning actor, whose honors include the FAITA award for an Outstanding Performance and the American Indian LA Film and Television Award for Outstanding Supporting Role.

His most notable roles include The Doe Boy (2001), Rango (2011), The Lone Ranger (2013), House of Cards (2014), Hell or High Water (2016), Wind River (2017), Transformers: The Last Knight (2017), and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (2015-2017). Birmingham also starred in all five movies of the Twilight Saga (2008-2012).

Brecken Merrill is an American actor who stars as Tate Dutton. He was born on born on June 20, 2008, and calls Newport Beach, California his hometown.

Merrill is new to acting with Yellowstone being his most notable role. He has also starred in This is Us (2022) as Teen Nicky Jr. Merrill is also starring in the upcoming film We All Got Up to Dance.

9. Jefferson White as Jimmy Hurdstrom

Smith got his start in the film industry as a stuntman while also taking on small roles as well in film and television. He has served as an animal wrangler for Los Locos (1997), 2 Guns (2013), Hell or High Water (2016), and The Kid (2019).

Smith’s most notable film roles include Stagecoach (1986), Desperado (1987), Rambo III (1988),  The Young Riders (1991), Posse (1993), Tombstone (1993), Troublemakers (1994), Seven Mummies (2006) and Midnight Cowboy.

11. Jake Ream as Jake

Jake Ream is an American horse trainer and actor. He started working on Yellowstone behind the scenes as a horseman, helping with saddling and wrangling.

To date, Ream’s only acting credit is Yellowstone. However, he has been with Yellowstone since season one and gained a recurring role when show creator Taylor Sheridan needed another cowboy for the show. Outside of his work on the series, Ream operates Ream Performance Horses in Palmyra, Utah.

12. Ryan Bingham as Walker

Ryan Bingham is an American actor, singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He was born on March 31, 1981, in Hobbs, New Mexico.

Bingham’s main focus in his career is music, with his music spanning multiple genres. He won the 2010 Golden Globe for Best Original Song for “The Weary Kind.” He has won numerous other awards for his music, including the Americana Music Association Artist of the Year, Critics’ Choice Movie Awards for Best Original Song, and the Golden Globes Award for Best Original Song.

13. Jennifer Landon as Teeter

Landon is the daughter of Michael Landon, who is best known for playing Little Joe Cartwright on Bonanza (1959–1973). She is also the half-sister of director Michael Landon, Jr. and screenwriter Christopher B. Landon.

Landon’s most notable acting roles include As the World Turns (2005-2010), The Young and the Restless (2012), Days of Our Lives (2017), Animal Kingdom (2017–2018, 2022), and The Front Runner (2018).
