Cat Advice

Cats mean different things to different people. Some want one to cuddle with and sit on their laps. Ohers are happy to live with a very independent cat who spends most of its time outside and doesn’t want too much human interaction.

Cats are relatively low maintenance compared to dogs. They are pretty independent, Cats also fit more easily into busy and modern lifestyles than dogs. The majority of cats are referred to as moggies or domestic short or long haired cats. They are a random mixture of lots of different cats. Studies have shown that Persian cats have a high risk of health issues.

Choosing a kittenIf considering cat ownership, try to find a cat that will interact with you if you want it to. No cats are the same and how each cat behaves with you can depend on its personality and early experiences, which can make it fearful or confident with people and life in general. The sex of a kitten doesn’t really matter, as long as you neuter your kitten before it reaches puberty, about four months of age.

An indoor-only lifestyle for a cat is typically chosen by an owner due to fear of the cat’s welfare such as safety. Young cats should be kept indoors because they’ve not yet had time to learn about the dangers in its environment. The disadvantages of allowing cats access to the outside are that they can receive a harmful disease, ingest a poisonous or harmful substance, the risk of fights or hostility with other cats, vehicular accidents, falls, and becoming lost and stolen,

Allowing cats access to the outside world provides them the opportunity for physical exercise and exploration. It stimulates a cat’s senses. Less confinement can lead to less frustration. Outdoor cats also tend to be slimmer than their indoor counterparts.

Outdoor catsThere is no simple answer to whether to keep cats indoors or provide them access the outdoors since each situation has its own welfare implications and there is valid reasoning on both sides.

The environment in which to keep a cat is also very significant. For example, if the cat lives with other cats which do not get along the cat will be stressed and will react differently than if it was on its own.

There’s no guaranteed way to choose the perfect cat for you. Understanding your expectations as well as what makes cats tick will help you to bring home a cat that should be able to cope with its new environment and be the pet that you want.

Persian catIf you don’t have the time or desire to groom a cat daily, don’t get a Persian or other cat with a long coat. If you’re an extremely house-cleanliness type of person, you may not want a lot of hair everywhere. A shorthaired cat requires far less maintenance. Most of these cats are fanatical about their coats and keep them in immaculate condition. There will still be some hairs left around.

A cat is likely to sharpen its claws indoors. This often occurs on stair carpet, sometimes on furniture, and possibly on wallpaper. Whether a cat does depends on the cat itself and the environment provided the cat.

According to studies, the most affectionate and friendliest cat breeds include the Abyssinian, Ragdoll, Chartreux, Scottish Fold, Exotic Shorthair, and Sphynx.
